Volunteer at Youth Business Week!
Why Should I Volunteer?
These teens have worked very hard preparing a presentation to summarize what they have learned throughout the week. As a volunteer, you will see the process behind and the final results of this hard work. In order to have successful YBW presentations and to select the winning companies, YBW 2008 needs the participation of local persons who have an interest in supporting and encouraging hard work, learning and collaboration between business and education.

Company Advisor
A Company Advisor is an individual who works in one of the Career Pathways and is willing to donate valuable time to advise a group of 11 teens using a prepared curriculum specifically designed for Youth Business Week (YBW). The YBW 2008 curriculum includes a computer-simulated business situation and a number of interpersonal activities that cover a range of topics such as Corporate Citizenship, Financial Literacy, Business Ethics, Leadership, College Preparation, Free Enterprise, Goal Setting, Time Management, and Teamwork. In addition to helping teens navigate the YBW 2008 curriculum, Company Advisors use real-world examples from their careers to create a broader Youth Business Week experience.
To register as a Youth Business Week 2008 Company Advisor, you should have experience working in one of the three YBW Career Pathways offered for 2008 - Traditional YBW which would include financial institutions, real estate, insurance brokers, etc.; Construction/Trades/Utilities; or Health and Technology. Most important is the ability and desire to share workplace experiences with local teens. Company Advisors are given a complete copy of the YBW 2008 curriculum and activities at two five hour orientation sessions held two weeks prior to the actual Youth Business Week event. At these orientation sessions, YBW staff reviews the curriculum with Company Advisors. Company Advisors should become thoroughly familiar with curriculum topics prior to YBW 2008.
